When a man refused to pay his fare early Friday, a Regina cab driver tried to make things easy for police.

The cabbie took the 31-year-old man to the police station.

At that point, police allege, the suspect assaulted the cab driver and stole the vehicle. Officers found the man in the cab nearby and arrested him.

Officers asked the man for a breath sample, but he refused.

The Cut Knife resident now is charged with robbery, failing to comply with a demand, and impaired driving. He made his first appearance Friday.
