Turbines have been stolen from the Colorado Springs Meals Truck whereas the house owners have been working inside
A local food truck owner said she was shocked to find someone stole both generators from her truck while she was working inside.
“It was surprising,” said Heather Briggs, owner of Gold Star Pies. “They were sitting right next to the truck, and we’ve never seen anything like it. I never thought anyone would run away with them while they were hooked up and running. “
Gold Star Pies has been cruising through Colorado Springs for a little over three years, performing mostly on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Briggs said she was dumped when she heard people running away with their source of energy.
“I had really nice ones,” said Briggs. “I had Hondas and they are really small so I can lift them and everything. They cost around $ 2,300. “
Briggs said they were cleaning up from hosting a community event outside of their home. She said her husband jumped in his car and tried to follow the thieves but couldn’t catch them.
“We were here to clean up and then suddenly all the power went out and we heard tires screeching,” Briggs said. “At the same time, we ran out of the truck and saw someone walking with our generators.”
Briggs said they weren’t sure what to do until they could afford new generators. Fortunately, a friend of hers set up a GoFundMe. Within 24 hours, several friends and strangers donated more than $ 2,000 so that she could buy new generators.
“So many people had given $ 10 or $ 20. Someone gave $ 1,000. It was just a generous outpouring of love, ”said Briggs.
Briggs said they can now buy new generators and put those cakes back in the oven.
